Doug Peterson retires from AGC
As director of labor relations, Peterson was best known for handling the sometimes-tense negotiations with unions that supply labor to AGC members. He led nine negotiations over the 23 years he held that position.

AGC of Washington honors Sen. Guy Palumbo
Senator Guy Palumbo (D-1) was honored as a “Champion of Construction” by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Washington on October 12. AGC recognized Palumbo for his work to sponsor and secure passage of legislation to promote workforce training and apprenticeship programs.

Court of Appeals to review King County’s attempted end-around venue statute
In April, AGC’s Legal Affairs Committee supported a contractor-member’s efforts before the Washington Court of Appeals. The Legal Affairs Committee joined the contractor in asking the appellate court to consider the contractor’s request to have its lawsuit against King County decided in a Snohomish County court.

Ram, Lakeside, Atkinson and PCL win WSDOT awards
Nearly 150 people attended the AGC/WSDOT annual meeting on Jan. 7. Attendees heard valuable information about upcoming WSDOT and Sound Transit projects, the workings of the various AGC/WSDOT committees, WSDOT’s project delivery method selection guidance, and the challenges of IMCO’s I-90 and Atkinson’s Puyallup River bridge projects.
Also, awards were announced for the Partnership for Excellence in Contract Administration Awards.
