City of Tukwila issues bridge-restriction advisory

The City of Tukwila Department of Public Works is advising the motoring public that the weight restriction for the 42nd Avenue South bridge over the Duwamish River will be reduced for Single Hauling Vehicles (SHVs) with 6 and 7 axles. Current weight restrictions for combination vehicles will not change.

6-axle single hauling vehicles are reduced to a maximum 34-ton limit.

7-axle single hauling vehicles are reduced to a maximum 35-ton limit.

The reduced weight restriction is effective November 16, 2018 and will remain in place until further notice. Alternate route permits may be issued on a case-by-case basis by the Public Works Department. No weight exemptions for SHVs will be allowed for using the bridge. New signage will be installed to reflect this change.

The City apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and reminds the public to drive safely.
