Changes in prevailing wage rates to take effect Aug. 31
As it is required to do every February and August, the Department of Labor and Industries has posted new prevailing wages, and among them are some significant changes. The new rates, effective Aug. 31, can be found here.
This is the first set of prevailing wages since the Legislature passed a bill (see it here) in the last legislative session that requires L&I to establish the prevailing rate of wage using collective-bargaining agreements in counties and for scopes for which a CBA exists. This means that there are some instances (particularly with regard to residential construction rates) where the prevailing wage has been significantly changed, so contractors should review them closely.
