Rep. Larsen talks workforce, transportation with AGC
AGC members Brett Ferullo (Northwest Construction) Chuck Lutrell (Dawson Construction) and AGC Northern District Manager Liz Evans recently had the opportunity to sit down with Congressman Rick Larsen (photo) for a conversation on various issues affecting the construction industry and Washington State.
Much of the discussion was focused on the need for workforce-development programs which promote construction as career. Chuck and Brett explained the aging workforce dilemma and the need for replacement workers to enter the industry. Congressman Larsen also briefed the group on Boeings decision to build the 777 in Washington State and the role he played in helping to ensure a positive outcome with the machinists union.
Long-term transportation and infrastructure funding is always important to Rick and he continues to work on securing more predictable and robust funding through existing programs.
Congressman Larsen has represented the newly redrawn Second District stretching from Bellingham to Lynwood since 2000. Rep. Larsen sits on the Armed Services and Transportation and Infrastructure committees where he is the ranking member of the Aviation Subcommittee.
