AGC Names Sean Woerman Contractor of the Year
AGC of Washington honored Sean Woerman Senior Account Manager for Lydig Construction as Contractor of the Year; John Huntley President of Mills Electric Co. as Subcontractor of the Year; and Michael Grace Partner with Groff Murphy P
LLC as Affiliate of the Year. The awards were presented during AGCs annual convention on Jan. 25.
Woerman was honored as Contractor of the Year for his work with AGCs Future Leadership Forum (FLF). He is a founding member of the FLF Steering Committee and in 2012 served as chairman of AGC of Americas national Construction Leadership Council (CLC).
In 2007 AGC of Washingtons Board wanted to build a professional development program that would also be an avenue for greater participation in AGC by up-and-coming construction industry leaders said 2012 AGC President Steve Isenhart. Sean took the ball and has been running with it ever since. He helped build the FLF from the ground up and this year he put our program on the national map by bringing the national CLC Fall Working Weekend to Seattle for the first time. The major event drew more than 120 young construction professionals from around the country to Seattle for two-days of knowledge building and networking.
Woerman also serves on the AGC Education Foundation Board of Trustees and is an active member of its Continuing Education Advisory Committee. Sean is committed to education and is a bridge between the young professionals in FLF and the Education Foundation helping to ensure our programs are state of the art said Diane Kocer Executive Director of the AGC Education Foundation.
As Subcontractor of the Year Huntley was recognized for his community leadership and AGC involvement. As a Whatcom County resident myself I know how much John means to our philanthropic community said Isenhart. His influence and generosity can be seen throughout the area. John is the President of the St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation and an active member of the Rotary Club of Bellingham. As a member of the Whatcom Hospice Board he played a key role in creating the Whatcom Hospice House.
John was also at the forefront of AGCs efforts to support Rob McKenna for Governor. John encouraged and organized others in support of policies important to construction Isenhart said. Its not easy for a business owner to invest so much time and resources into political action and we are grateful John stepped up for the industry.
Grace was awarded Affiliate of the Year honors for his leadership of AGCs Legal Affairs Committee.
Mike led AGC’s Legal Affairs Committee into several successful efforts to protect contractors’ interests said Isenhart. He has authored or co-authored amicus briefs and presented oral arguments in support of the industrys views regarding cases before the courts. Through his leadership AGCs Legal Affairs Committee has remained a valuable resource for AGC and the industry.
Isenhart noted that Mike has also been named a “Super Lawyer” by Washington Law & Politics.
At the convention AGC also presented a Membership Award for Best Growth and Retention to AGC’s Southern District (John Korsmo Korsmo Construction District Representative and Tim Attebery AGC Southern District Manager).
